Introduction to Foggix Cloudlet Platform Product Series

Generally, a cloudlet is a small-scale cloud computing infrastructure that is located at the edge of the network, closer to end users and devices. It is essentially a mini cloud data center that is used to support resource-intensive mobile and IoT applications. Cloudlets are designed to provide low-latency, high-bandwidth access to computing resources for nearby devices, without the need to send data over the network to a remote cloud data center. They are typically deployed in locations such as office buildings, shopping malls, and public transportation hubs. Cloudlets are intended to provide benefits such as reduced latency, improved reliability, and increased privacy and security, as data is processed closer to the source and never leaves the local network. They are seen as a key component of edge computing, which is a trend towards processing and analyzing data at the edge of the network, rather than in centralized cloud data centers.
